County Dublin Towns

If there’s anything that a traveler will remember most about Dublin, it will be its beautiful towns and counties. And each of these towns has an attraction to boast about. Check out the list below to know which villages and counties to add in your itinerary.

HowthVillage: HowthVillage is located in the Howth peninsula. As such, it is a coastal village that is very nice and picturesque. Spend the night here and relax. The HowthVillage is situated just 5 miles from the DublinAirport and is quite popular for its harbours, fishing trawlers, yachts, and marinas.

Glasnevin: If you are looking forward to a historic treat, then Glasnevin is worth visiting. This suburb in Dublin can offer lots of interesting cultural and historical inputs to a traveler like you. There’s a museum, a botanical garden, and a cemetery of prominent Irish men and women in the area.

Dalkey: Visitors who want to see and explore the DalkeyCastle and the GoatCastle should pay this island a visit. There are beautiful churches, graveyards, and towers here as well. Being a popular tourist town, guided walks are scheduled regularly at the DalkeyCastle grounds.

Killiney: Killiney is another pretty coastal village in Dublin. This town is famous simply because equally famous people live here. It’s an affluent town, so to speak. The KillineyHillPark, which is the most famous attraction in the area, stands 170 meters above the sea level.

Malahide:Like most Dublin towns, Malahide is located near the sea. Malahide is 15 kilometers away from the city center. Tourists who come here try to enjoy everything that the town has to offer – castle hopping, yachting, dining, tennis, and gazing at the parks. The main attraction of course, is the MalahideCastle.

Sandycove: If you know of the prominent Irish writer James Joyce, come here to welcome yourself to his county. Sandycove is not too far from the south of the Dublin city center. It offers a range of bars, restaurants, and bathing spots. There’s also a museum in the area that was built in memory of him.

SkerriesTown: What you’ll like most about this town are its streets that are lined with huge trees and pretty flowers. It’s the perfect summer spot indeed. The town has got a harbour as well, which is the best place to buy the freshest prawns. For the kids, the sandy beaches of this town will be the most appealing offering of all.

Templeogue: Another interesting town not far from Dublin’s city center is the Templeogue village. It’s interesting because it is where the Morgue Public House and Restaurant is located. Incidentally, that’s the oldest pub in Dublin.
